World Book Day in P3A

We had great fun on Thursday for World Book Day. Lots of us came dressed up and we really enjoyed talking about our costumes. We swapped teachers during story time and loved having Miss Elliot back with us to read ‘The Snail and the Whale’.

We decorated our door by creating a huge book cover for The Worst Witch. Lots of us came dressed as The Worst Witch, including Miss Lumsden! We investigated ‘Piggybook’ by Anthony Browne and learnt that there is much more to books than words! We had a go at sequencing the story and really enjoyed reading it as a class. Can you spot anything interesting about the pages below?

Kung Fu Punctuation

This term, P3A have been learning Kung Fu Punctuation. We enter ‘Miss Lumsden’s Dojo’, where we all have to stand to attention in lines. We have been learning the Kung Fu Punctuation moves for full stops, capital letters, question marks, exclamation marks and commas. We practice these moves and then use them to punctuate sentences correctly. Sometimes we challenge each other to add in the correct punctuation. Each lesson, Miss Lumsden chooses a Kung Fu Punctuation Champion who has shown great progress. Our Champion gets to wear our ‘Kung Fu Punctuation Champion’ dobok and has their picture added to our Champion’s wall. We showcased our learning at our sharing learning assembly earlier in the month and received lots of positive feedback! We love Kung Fu Punctuation! This video will show you all the basic moves if you would like to try it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1fNGjLkyD0
